چکیده

This paper introduces a simple yet effective circuit topology to directly generate and modulate UWB pulses using baseband signals. The same circuit can be used to achieve Pulse Position Modulation (PPM), Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM), ON-OFF Keying (OOK) and Phase Shift Keying (PSK) by making changes in the baseband data. The method does not require the use of potentially expensive components like mixers, variable attenuators, switches or variable delays. The circuit employs a pair of anti-parallely mounted Step Recovery Diodes (SRD) coupled to a pulse forming network. The use of the same component for both generation and modulation results in a lower component count and in turn, lower cost and power consumption. Design of a Low Power UWB Integrated Circuit for Endoscope Applications

This paper presents the integrated circuit design of an ultra-wideband (UWB) transceiver for a wireless endoscope that enables real-time diagnosis with high resolution images. The implemented UWB transceiver is a non-coherent transmit reference (TR) architecture with differential binary phase shift Keying (DBPSK) modulation. All-digital pulse generator (PG) and merged radio frequency (RF) front...

A Single-Chip Dual-Band 22–29-GHz/77–81-GHz BiCMOS Transceiver for Automotive Radars

Integration of multi-mode multi-band transceivers on a single chip will enable low-cost millimeter-wave systems for next-generation automotive radar sensors. The first dual-band millimeter-wave transceiver operating in the 22–29-GHz and 77–81-GHz short-range automotive radar bands is designed and implemented in 0.18m SiGe BiCMOS technology with of 200/180 GHz. The transceiver chip includes a du...

Pulse generator design

The techniques normally used for generating pulses in low-cost monolithic technology (CMOS or BiCMOS) are different from those usually used in hybrid technologies. The latter mainly use edge combination methods generated from SRD diodes via quarter-wave lines or stubs (Jeongwoo Han et al., 2004). In a low-cost context, these techniques are not possible, as they cannot be integrated into the des...
